This is Patrick and he is the Wicked Pony of the West! I came up with the idea of this costume by researching horses in movies. The horse at the end of the Wizard Of Oz changes color and I thought it would be cute if I create a stronger horse presence in the movie theme by putting Patrick as the Wicked Witch!
I used green temporary hair color spray to get him green, I used 7 cans purchased at Wal-Mart for about $15. I then wrapped his legs with zebra print vet wrap found at Southern States for $10. I also sprayed his hooves with red glitter spray-paint, also found at Wal-mart, for about $7 for a can. I bought a black hooded cape and small witch’s hat from Wal-Mart (I tried not to spend a lot this year!) for $15. For his blaze, I was nervous about getting the temporary hair color in his eyes so I used green make-up found at Wal-Mart for a dollar. I just smeared it on the white part with a finger!
After he was all put together, I rode him around our “neigh”-borhood! We are the only family with horses living in the suburbs! All the kids loved his costume! They each got pony rides around the block! People driving by also stopped to say how cute Patrick looked!
Patrick is awesome with everything! He’s so dead-broke, nothing bothers him, he didn’t spook at his cape or the spray-paint! I’m a very proud horse-mom!
