Are you looking for fun Nintendo DS pony and horse games? This is the place to find out about the best ones, and share your reviews and tips for playing them.
I love my Nintendo DS because I can take it anywhere...and I am always on the hunt for new fun games to play. If they have horses or ponies in them, that's the best!
Many of these games are also available for PC and some are even available for the Wii.

If you are looking for a fun Nintendo DS horse game, check out My Horse & Me. Outside of training and competing, you also get to care for your horse along and complete fun challenges. While there is a dressage like component most of the riding is show jumping. Yes there are show jumping courses in the woods which are kind of cross country like along with the traditional show jumping courses in an arena, but really it is all show jumping. As you win competitions you will earn rewards. There are multiple views you can play this game in and the game has an official FEI license. The graphics in the DS version of this game are not as good as the PC game, but they are decent.

Horse Life has all the different elements you want in a horse game. You get to customize your own horse, dress them up in tack you buy, train your horse, and go on to compete in various events. The disciplines in the game include show jumping, dressage, and cross country. When you are not training or riding your horse you can go on trail rides throughout pretty country scenes.

Ener-G Horse Riders is one of the lesser known horse games out there, this horse game has a lot to offer. Not only do you get to work with your horse on the ground you also get to ride. Of course your horse is fully customizable and there are different scenes for you to ride through, but the coolest thing about this game is that it is the only Nintendo DS horse game I know of that lets you get a wild horse.

Do you love horse games with a storyline? If so, Petz Horsez 2 is a great game for you. Not only do you get to make choices on your farm that affect the storyline but you also get to breed, raise, train, and care for horses. You can also compete in competitions to win money that you can use to buy different tack items to dress your horse up in or to just buy more horses for your expanding farm.

Another one of my first few Nintendo DS horse games was Let's Ride: Friends Forever.
It is harder than some other games but is definitely worth it. You
start off getting a foal that you raise and train to become your
competition horse. At first you can only show your foal in beauty
contests but once your foal is a horse you can start competing in
jumping competitions. There is also a diary you can use in the game.

If dressing up your horse or pony is what you consider to be the best part of a horse game then this Petz: Pony Beauty Pageant is
a great game for you. There are plenty of accessories to dress your
pony up in along with lots of mini games. Of course you can also train
your pony, teach the pony tricks, compete in show jumping, and compete
in beauty pageants.

In My Horse & Me: Riding for Gold, you can choose a horse of any color and care for it, train for shows (jumping, dressage, cross country) and enter worldwide competitions.

Customize your avatar and your pony in Championship Pony, a fun Nintendo DS horse game. Once you have the avatar and pony you want you get to train your pony and compete in competitions. Of course you also get to take care of your pony, play mini games, and have a ton of fun. The graphics are a little outdated but you can still have plenty of fun playing this game.

Looking for a great educational game that is also fun? Discovery Kids: Pony Paradise game checks both of those boxes. Not only will you learn facts about horses and ponies you will also learn facts about their care in this game. Of course you will also get to care for your pony, train your pony, ride your pony, and compete with your pony. The graphics in this game are older and therefore not as impressive as some other games.

Finally the dream of your own estate comes true for the Nintendo DS as well. Get ahead as a stable hand, raise sweet little foals and take excellent care of your guests in Horse & Foal: My Riding Stables. Give outstanding riding lessons and prepare your horses and students perfectly, so that they will be the riding stars of the future. You prefer taking part in competitions yourself? Go for it and show your amazing talent! What are you waiting for? Your first guests are already expecting you!

Pippa Funnell 2: Farm Adventures is
a fun horse game for the DS. On the farm you get to raise foals, train
them, and eventually compete with them. Each foal has unique personality
traits and physical characteristics. Interactions with the foals
include grooming, playing with toys, and more. Eventually you get to
ride the horse and later enter jumping competitions.

When I got my Nintendo DS, Horsez was one of the first few games I got and I loved it. You get a super cute foal to take care of and train in the game who eventually becomes your competition horse. Once your horse is all grown up you get to participate in different show jumping, cross country, and dressage competitions across the globe. This game can be harder than some others so just keep that in mind.

While I am very sad that the online Bella Sara game is no longer around, at least the Nintendo DS/PC game can still be purchased. It is not super similar to the old online game but it is definitely fun in its own way. You get to care for horses, ride through enchanted gardens, and dress your horse up. The game is a little older at this point so the graphics are not the most advanced but it is still a great game.

I don’t know about you but I grew up loving Barbie and horses, so when I was younger I thought the Barbie Horse Adventures: Riding Camp game had it all. With the ability to ride different horses, go on adventures, complete quests, earn rewards, and take care of horses as Barbie there is not much that the game is missing. The game is a little bit older so it may seem a little dated but it can still be a lot of fun.

Love mysteries? If so, prepare to love Riding Academy 2. This horse game is centered around mysterious efforts to ruin the Riding Academy. You will have to unravel the mystery all while taking care of your horse and competing in different events. The disciplines in the game include dressage, western riding, and showjumping. Of course you have to take care of your horse too.
Available for: PC, Nintendo DS

There are not many western horse riding games out there but luckily this one will keep you entertained for a long time. In Western Riding Academy, you of course get a horse to take care of, ride, and train but the riding is all centered around western riding. There is reining, barrel racing, and beauty contests (similar to showmanship). Plus you get to go on fun trail rides in the country.

I Love Horses has all the basics of a good horse game such as riding, training, and horse care along with a ton of mini-games. The game is a little older and this can be seen in the graphics, but what the game lacks in great graphics it makes up for with unique features. Besides the mini games there is an obstacle course and a choir that you can join.

Looking for a fun and educational horse game? If so, Horse Trainer is a great option for you. Not only do you get a horse to train, ride, compete with, and care for but the game also gives you real life pertinent information in regards to horses, riding, and horse care. The graphics and the story line are both okay but not exceptional.

Petz: Horseshoe Ranch lets you adopt a foal and raise it alongside other horses. You get to play and interact with your foal as it grows up into a horse. Along the way you get to unlock new rewards as you meet different goals. These rewards include fun items for your horse all the way up to new areas to go riding through. Like most of the older games the graphics are a little outdated unfortunately.

Unfortunately it doesn’t look like you can buy Apassionata new anymore, but you may be able to find it used somewhere. Great parts of this game include the interactive horse care, training, and riding. A really interesting aspect of this game is that it is more focused on traditional teachings. In the game, you not only do in-hand training and groundwork you also do classical dressage and vaulting.

Similar to the original Horse Life game you get a foal that you raise, train, and later compete with in Horse Life: John Whitaker International, Ltd. The disciplines are still show jumping, dressage, and cross country. Of course there are also trail rides to go on when you are not training or competing with your horse. There is horse care to perform through the game, just like the original version. The biggest difference between the two versions is the graphics and story line.

It is important to note that there is a PC and Nintendo DS version of Imagine Champion Rider,
but they ARE different and this review is for the Nintendo DS version.
Now, this game has the traditional story line of you going to your
uncle's farm where you get a horse to train, ride, and compete on. There
is of course horse care to do along with a horse market where you can
buy more horses for the farm. The graphics are somewhat outdated but
besides that the game is pretty good.

While the original Pony Friends does not seem to be around anymore, Pony Friends 2 is still around. This game lets you take care of your ponies, turn them out, and accessorize them. You can also compete on your pony and take them out on trail rides where you can spot wildlife. There is also a shop where you can buy fun items for your pony.
Available for: Wii, Nintendo DS
