The First Horse I See is about a young girl named Willojean, and she begs her granddad for the first horse she sees. Her name is Tess. But Tess needs to be treated by the vet for many things. She is also very skinny.

Tess arrives just a few seconds before Willojean's father, and Tess looks vicious then. But Willo insists she's all right. This story is about how Willo learns to control her ex-racehorse to be able to keep her.
