This book is about a colt that is blind. He has trouble with wolves. He gets lost. There is also some bad weather.

Reading the authors notes at the end of the book, I find out that this story is at least somewhat based on a real little blind colt that the author knew of back in the early 1900's. That makes this story even more touching and enduring.

Some younger readers might be upset by a few scenes in the book, but I'd recommend it to slightly older readers or anyone who loves to read about horses.
