From the Author:How long have you been horsecrazy?I have been horse crazy since I was 5 years old. My grandmama enrolled me in riding lessons and she had two horses on her property. Black Beauty was my favorite book and I just fell in love with horses.
What inspired you to write this book?I was inspired to write this book based off of my daughter, our real-life Clydesdale, Rosie, and the lessons learned growing up on a ranch. I was inspired by Rosie being so different than our quarter horses, yet she was learning to be a ranch horse.
How long did it take you to write it?This book took me a few weeks to write, a few months of working with the editor, and then was passed to the illustrator. It took 2 years for it to be released for publication after I finished writing it.
Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?Keep writing! If you have a story on your heart keep writing. Read, a lot. Read a lot of books in the same age division and genre that you are wanting to write in. Find out what you like about books and what you don’t.
Do you have horses now? Can you tell us about them?Yes, we have 6 horses right now. We have a paint, 4 quarter horses and a Clydesdale. They are all working ranch horses and have been started and trained by my husband, Ty Murray (9x world champion cowboy) and an excellent horseman trained under Denis Reis.
