The Wild One:

Sam's father has good reason to send her away from his Nevada ranch to a San Francisco aunt. Sam was seriously injured when she fell from a young stallion named Blackie; she was struck by Blackie's hoof in a cloud of confusion and dust, and Blackie has been missing ever since.

Such a good series!

If you were to ask me what my favorite horse book series was, I would answer Phantom Stallion! I am currently on book 2, but I love it already. You really get to know Sam, Jake, Ace, the Phantom, and Linc (ugh :) so well and they're descrbed wonderfully!

Terri Farley also wrote another awesome book called Wild at Heart, all about mustangs and the kids/young adults that are saving them!

The Phantom Stallion

I love this series of horse books! They keep me on the edge of my seat while I'm reading them. You can read the whole series on Epic (there are over 20 of them!)

I love the parts where Sam rides the Phantom (the wild stallion) over the prairie and through the creeks. Great books!

I don't like the PS book, I love them! It's cool the way Darby comes into the PS world in book 24 and Sam appears in WHI book 10! I still prefer PS to WHI even though they're both cool! I hope there are more special edition novels. I can't wait till Sam's blog is updated, hurry up Terri you're taking forever! About Sam and Jake, they should just stay friends, arguing and teasing each other like! Not all well like how other fans want because it would Totally ruin the books, but I don't agree they're like siblings because my brothers would never be like that ever!

Terri said that she posted them on her blog and it won't open any of the seven chapters. I hope Terri will fix this because i cant bear waiting any longer. i love these series though and hope Terri keeps writing but i wish that the novella could be read as a book and not just kindle.

i love these books. I've read nearly all of them but not in order. i hope Terri will write LOADS MORE series. the wild horse island are OK but I think PHANTOM STALLION series are way better. I love these books, I've read about 13 parts (not in order) I've read the last one and wish Terri Farley writes more of these series. I'm going to buy the novella one soon hopefully. The wild island series are OK but I prefer the PHANTOM STALLION series more.

My favorite series!

This is my favorite horse book series I've ever read. The main character, Sam Forster. I love how realistic the books are. It's just like real life! You can actually learn a lot about horses and ranch life from reading these books. I've also read the Wild Horse Island series and I've actually learned a few Hawaiian words just by reading them!

I started reading these books at 9 years old and have been hooked ever since. the exciting yet moving story lines, create a real picture in your mind and i just happen to be re-reading the whole series at the moment. i also think that the fact that there are 24 books in that single series, gives you a feeling of suspense between stories.

I love this Book and the whole series

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I actually have the first one in the series, but I rented the rest of them from the library. It was so worth it to finish the whole series. Terri Farley is such a great author that once you start reading these books you feel like you are totally in Sam's world. I loved every one of the books, and if you are horse crazy, like me, you will too! I was Actually sad that the series ended. I wanted to keep reading about Sam and the Phantom stallion. totally worth it!

Phantom Stallion

These books are about a girl named Sam. In the first book she finds a wild horse and they create a bond but the horse has to stay in the wild. She names the horse Phantom Stallion. Throughout the books, Sam finds more adventures with the stallion and other horses.

this series is awesome!! it follows Samantha Forster as she re-adjusts to life on the Navada range and tries to keep her beloved mustangs free, esp the leader of a band of mustangs who was her horse but ran away after a bad accident. she is helped by her friends, Jake Ely and Jen Kenworthy. a totally MUST READ!!!!!

This is really the best horses series you'll ever find! I'm proud to say I have all 24 and was really sad when they ended! I have all the Wild Horse Island too. Sam is also mentioned in those books, to sometimes. And, if some of you are having trouble finding all the books, most are out of print... :-/ so i suggest you look on amazon or other online book dealers! that's where i got all mine. also, visit phantomstallion.com!

I love phantom stallion because it is full of mystery, fun and daring adventures of blackie the phantom and his friend ace and sam. it would be cool to be a mustang for a day and run like the wind.

my favorite part was when zanzibar cam to sam in the moonlight. my teacher would want me to do this. the problem in the story is linc slocum wants to catch zanzibar and that problem is solved when he goes to jail.

i also liked it when zanzibar is set free and all is back to normal.

Terri Farley has also written another series called Phantom Stallion wild horse Island it's about a girl named Darby who goes to live with her grandpa in Hawaii and she brings her horse Hoku (that's Hawaiian for star) these books are amazing!!!!!!! and if you have finished the Phantom Stallion series you should read the Wild horse island books!

This is the all time best horse series out there! A teenage girl named Sam secretly befriends a wild mustang, while living at her ranch in Nevada, along with riding her own horse, Ace. Each book is action packed with adventures and dreams and feelings that all of us horse people can relate too.

The author, Terri Farley, must be a really good writer, because whenever Sam is mad at someone else in the book, usually Linc Slocum, i'm mad at them too! Each book features a different horse and a new problem or threat to Zanzibar's herd. (Zanzibar is Sams secret name for the Phantom, the wild horse she befriends.) Read throughout the series as foals get born, people get arrested, Sam saves slaughterbound horses, and SO MUCH MORE!! Here are some captions from the backs of some of the Phantom stallion series:

It is about a girl called Sm who fell off her young colt called Blackie. Sam is sent to San Francisco for 2 years and when she returns her horse Blackie becomes the owner of a wild herd. He is now a beautiful grey.

The series is about Sam, Jenifer, Jake, Bryana, Dallas who all live on River Bend, 3 ponies & goldust ranch ranch and of course Ace, Silly Witch and obviously Phantom.

Sam and her best friend Jen get into amazing adventures to save the Phantom Stallion aka Blackie.

Sam rescues this large horse from and auction and tries to find it's talent.some had already bought him but the big horse jumped thefence of their corall and ran althe way to rver band and jumped n to the pature there. Sam get's help from her friends to find this giant horse's talent and true home. Meanwhile sam has a communtee servuse assiment that has to be done and presented to the studen counssul well i don't want give too much away! Happy reading

I loved this book so much that I had to read the second one. And now that I've read the second one I want to read the third! I reaaly liked this book. I realy like how the Phantom always remmembered Sam and came her even after two years

Wonderful book

I loved the Phantom Stallion. Not only was it a page turner, but it was beautifully written. Listen to this passage:

"If this was a dream, Sam never wanted to awake.

The stallion arched his neck and pawed three times.

Water drops scattered like diamonds."

The other thing I likes about this book is that it weaves in information about horses without preaching. Readers may understand a bit why their parents sometimes get nervous about their girls and horses!

I highly recommend this book.
