This is an awesome
horse and rider halloween costume - love Scooby Doo!
This year I chose to be Mystery Inc. with my horse, Earl and my friend Emily and her horse, Meatball. We wanted something that would make kids and adults smile as we paraded around. After dressing my other horse up as a piƱata last year, I knew something in the shape of a cooler was the way to go. So, I bought a bunch of felt and got to work tracing, cutting and hot gluing and the result was so worth it!
How did you come up with your costume idea?I've always loved Scooby Doo as a kid and had the perfect idea to make him both the Mystery Machine and Scooby!
How did you make it? I started making it in August! The Mystery Machine is mostly felt and a couple accessories made with my Cricut like the dog tag and and the license plate. Shaggy's t-shirt is made from green fabric laying around and traced a shoulder guard to make it. My Daphne costume is a dress from Goodwill that I cut and sewed stripes onto. Velma's costume are pieces purchased on Amazon or from Goodwill
How much does it cost? The felt probably cost around $40 and I had most of the other things already.
Where did you wear it? Our farm does a Halloween parade every year and we showed off
How did people react? From kids to adults everyone was smiling when we walked by because who doesn't love Scooby Doo?!
How did your horse like it? He was a saint! He did not like the act of getting dressed but as soon as he got to the parade and realized there were treats at the trick or treat tables, he was loving it and stood perfectly still and posed for photos :)
