So this is my story continued. When I finished writing my story a lot has happened. The foal born in spring 2020 is now almost two yrs old. Her name is Mocha.
In May 2021, Summer had a foal. Her name is Sugar. She is a golden palomino which is my dream horse. In July, I had a couple jackpots. I raced Zoom and Summer (it was right near our house so she wasn’t away from her baby for long). Zoom did amazing! We ran our fastest time ever it was a 16.5! That jackpot was only for a few weeks so I did another one in August.
The first week at that jackpot was horrible. The arena was super small and the barrels were way too close to the fence. It started out fine. As soon as Zoom and I turned the first barrel, I knew something was up. Just on the other side of the fence behind the second barrel was a super loud speaker with colourful spinning lights. It scared her so bad she turned quickly to the side and I fell off. I could hardly walk the next two days. After that it went fine though.
In September, I had a big barrel two-day barrel race. I had to make a clean run to move on to the second day. I hit a barrel with Zoom in youth and a barrel in open with Summer. But I made a clean run in youth on Summer so I could still go back.
The next day ,Summer ran amazing! We placed 3rd in 1D with a time of 20.13. That day, I also took Honey as a futurity so her run didn’t count for anything. Honey was faster than most of the other horses there. She ran a 23.?
That fall, I started riding Mocha. She was already 1 1/2 and was big enough for me to ride. This is the first time I have ever saddle broken a horse so it’s a new experience for me.
Now in April 2022, I am training hard and getting really to complete this year I can’t wait to start racing again. I will be starting Sugar under saddle this fall and be starting Mocha on barrels.
I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.

Great Story!!! by: Bailey The Horse Lover
Nice! I love how you kept persevering even though you got bucked off a few times. (I have been bucked off and I know how hard it is to get back on)

When I started riding by: Anonymous
Hello there! This is my story about when I started riding in November of 2020. I went to a small barn (I'm not saying the name for privacy purposes) and the first horse I rode was an old horse. I started out not riding in a saddle because my teacher wanted me to develop good balance in the ring until I was more experienced. Instead, I rode with a saddle blanket and a vaulting girth. Finally, after a few weeks, I was allowed to ride in a western saddle!!
I started out walking and trotting then later on my teacher taught me how to lope! It was so much fun!
My teacher told me that I was now experienced enough to ride with the show team, even though I wasn't showing yet. But that meant getting a different instructor. She was very mean. She called kids names when they did something wrong!
I rode with her as my co-teacher (since my other one was still pretty much my teacher) for a while, then I couldn't do it anymore. She made me very uncomfortable because she was so mean.
Finally, I told my mom what was happening, and we switched to a different barn. There I got a new instructor and I met lots of new horse BFF's. I have been riding there ever since, and I just went to my first show!
