Rival Kentucky horse trainers, one down on their luck, train horses for the Kentucky Derby.

Uncle Peter’s niece (Loretta Young) and the rival’s son (Richard Greene) fall for each other during the process.

Lots of intrigue and romance occur during the process aided by a funny and crotchety Uncle Peter’s (Walter Brenna) meddling make the ending sad but also happy.
