Chapter 3 When we had been in Montana for 2 weeks,and our house was pretty much completely unpacked, I decided it was time to tell my parents about the barn. We were at dinner, mac and cheese with broccoli, I made my move. We were all eating, Dad was on his second bowl, so was I. When mom, too, stopped eating, dinner was almost over. "Mom, dad." I said. "Yes, Wills?" "There’s a horse farm down the road.
Pause.
"Okayy." Mom said. "They do lessons there, it’s not too expensive." "What are you asking Willow?"dad asked. "I want to take lessons there. It really isn’t too expensive, and I could earn some money myself too, to help pay for them." I took the piece of paper that the barn lady had given me and handed it to my mom. "Here is the flyer that the lady gave to me. I found the barn when I was exploring." Mom looked at the barn flyer, and said, "I’ll call the owner. We’ll see." "Thanks mom!" "We’ll see" wasn’t a "yes!!" but it would do for now. I was sure that this was going to be it!!!!
The next day, mom, true to her word, called the barn owner first thing in the morning. After breakfast, that is, nothing ever happens before breakfast in our house. After we had all eaten, she told me that we were going to go down and take a tour of the barn, to see if I liked it or not, which I thought was crazy. Of course I'd love it!!
