Laura is a young teenager who is madly in love with Fred Archer the mysterious champion jockey but so is half the female population of England.

This book is based in the late 1800's when Fred Archer was at the top of his career. The only person who understands her is her Uncle Harry who runs a nearby stables,her mother and Father disapprove with her infatuation so much that they hire a governess who is suppose to bring Laura into line,little do they know that the governess Miss Bell is also in love with Fred.

Laura's dad finds a young, rude lad sleeping rough on his land and brings him home with him to feed him. Laura is very curious about the young boy who walks like a dancer, with striking auburn hair and golden eyes, refuses to answer any of Laura's questions but kisses her behind the potting shed in her garden. Soon she finds out that there is more to this young lad,who and why are people looking for him is it because of the dreams he has about winners.

This is a story of a young girl's dream first love and how her life changes when tragedy strikes.
