This book is a must read for anyone who loves horses! Being involved in horse racing, I could connect with this book extremely well. The love that Tessa and Tom eventually find for each other is beautiful. It reminds me of the love I have for a friend of mine, who is also an apprentice jockey. I understand the deep connection Tessa has for Buffoon. It's a heart warming story, and I am disappointed that there isn't another to follow it.

This book follows Tessa, a young girl who gets herself thrown out of school and misbehaves due to her terrible home life, where she desperately misses her father who her mother left when she was three and the horse that she owned there, Shiner. The story follows Tessa as she works on small racing stables. After her initial hatred of the place and the people she starts to see that they are not so bad and they too share her hate for her step-father. When Buffoon arrives at the stables, no one wants to be his stable hand, he's ugly and out of proportion, so they leave him to Tessa, which she resents until she finds out that Buffoon is Shiners son. After this Tessa becomes extremely attached to the horse.

This is a book that i have re-read time and time again due to it's engaging and heartfelt storyline, that never fails to capture your heart. A must read for any horse lover and also those who are interested in horse racing.

This is a horse story that goes straight to your heart with it's realism, heartwarming message and honesty that life is not always easy. Any horse mad child and teenager would love this story, especially if you like horse racing. A must read!

i have read this book at lest 7 times and it's still good. i love horses and book so i read lots of horse book and this is one of my fave books joint with black beauty, the last dragon chronicles, the eragon books and the wolf brother books (i also love dragons and wolves).

I'm book and horse mad which means I've read heaps of horse books. By far this is the best book I've ever read. I liked it because it's not just about horses but a lot about her life. If you like horse racing you have to read it!

I love this book! I have read it before and it is my favourite story ever! It gripped me the whole way through and I was quite upset when it finished! I wouldn't mind having it as my own! I even named a stuffed horse after Buffoon!

I just finished this book and it is AMAZING! Complicated at times, but really good. So sad what happens to the horse! I recommend this book to all horse lovers!

I am a bookworm, and a horse lover as well. This book was a perfect cross of my interests! I read it over and over again. It is long, but don't be daunted by the size. It goes by quickly once you get into it. Enjoy!

Hey,
I read this book a few months ago and was horrified at the main characters actions. I also disliked the other boy girl things in it.
