Omg, the "scar" or "vein" on the ponies neck is just where the hair has been clipped. It's called a trace clip and is used to keep the hair short in the major sweat areas but not making the whole coat short. Keeps the pony warm but reduces sweating.
Great story too, some ponies can be quick little buggers :)
