I can not believe that people are so careless and heartless to do this!!!!! It's unfair. Just because the horse is crazy or won't become an Olympic jumper doesn't mean he won't become a persons beloved pet! Does it??? I think not!!! Lots of people are willing to take in a horse. If I had the space I would rescue a horse! The poor horse has a right to live!! They should make it illegal to slaughter horses!!!!!!!! It is lame that a horse should lose it's life because he doesn't jump 5.3!!!! I love horses so much and it makes me want to cry when I read this stuff! I may not own a horse but I do take lessons at an amazing barn and I understand how amazing the horses are!!! They all have the chance to live!!!!!! I LOVE HORSES SO MUCH!!!!!!

I agree with writing a letter so that your horse slaughter can be more humane, but some owners who could once afford horses find themselves out of a job, and they can't afford to have the horse euthanized, much less carcass disposal. So what do they do? They let it starve. Rescues are full with scenarios like this, and they often have to turn horses away to very inhumane slaughter in other countries. If horse slaughter were to come back, then they could humanely slaughter them, and the horses would have less strain on them from traveling a long distance. Don't let your love of horses cloud your logic.
